Spaghetti Cheese Bake

Some of you guys know me, have been in my house and have seen all my cookbooks. I gave about half of them away when I moved. The ones that I marked recipes to make but never actually made them even years later - all gone.

I had many many Company's Coming cookbooks, and for some reason I never realized that these were Canadian. I also never realized that Jean's shirts matched the color of the covers on her books. Now I only have 4 Company's Coming books 150 Delicious Squares, Slow Cooker Recipes, Casseroles, and Muffins & More.

There are 2 that I am still on the look out for - Breads, Cookies. Yes, I know that I could just go to Canadian Tire (I always thought that was an odd place for them to be) and buy them brand new. I don't want to do that, I love finding them in thrift stores. All the ones I own are used copies, with notes written in the margins. I love that. And I love the hunt.

I've made a lot of recipes from the Casseroles book, one dud so far, the rest are pretty OK. I am the Casserole Queen. My family groans when they hear the word casserole, I hear the heavens singing! Casseroles all mixed together, all in one pot, and easy - what isn't to love, seriously.

Anyway, I've been googling and came across A Lot of Loves recipe for Spaghetti Cheese Bake which comes from the Company's Coming: Pasta cookbook - one I have never owned or even seen before.
So that is what I made for dinner tonight. No one actually complained, I was asked if there were mushrooms in it - I didn't answer. It was different, not gross and not amazing. Something that I could make again, but not regularly. And I would probably leave the bread crumbs off, or use less of them and mix them with a little shredded cheese.

I will give you the recipe the way that I made it.

Spaghetti Cheese Bake

227 g spaghetti (half a box of noodles)
1 lb hamburger
1 can of Campbell's Cream of Mushroom Soup
1 can of Heinz Tomato Soup
1/2 cup of water
seasonings - diced dried garlic, italian seasoning, pepper - I don't measure just shake some in
3 cups grated cheese - I had a chunk of marble, and a chunk of med cheddar
1/2 cup of dried italian breadcrumbs
2 tbsp butter - I just guessed and added in a blob

Preheat oven to 350.
Cook pasta. Drain.
Brown the hamburger, drain if needed, added seasonings. Add in soups, water, and cheese. Cook until cheese is all melty and mixed in.
Put the breadcrumbs in a bowl, add butter, microwave it until it's melted. Take a fork and mix it together.
Spray a 9x13 baking dish. Dump in noodle mixture, sprinkle breadcrumbs over top.
Bake for 25 mins, or until bubbly.
Serve, and enjoy!
