Also I don't think that I have made any other cookies that call for corn syrup in them. Sorry, folks I have nothing against corn syrup and I will continue to use it when called for.
This recipe comes of The Cookie Bible in the Hand-Formed Cookie section - I didn't hand form these cookies, I used my small cookie scoop instead - hey if I don't have to get my hands dirty I won't!
Changes that I made - the book calls for an oven at 350 baked for 10 to 12 mins, I changed it to an oven at 325 for crisp prefect cookies, and 300 for slightly soft cookies - depends on what you want. I find that all of the oven temps in this book are just a tad high.
I also want to brag here that this is probably the closest that my picture has ever looked to the recipe picture in the book.
There also were zero complaints about these cookies, when I make my own family cookbook some day these will be in it. You didn't know about that? I do plan on making my own cookbook for my 3 kids, of all the recipes that I have made over the years, so they can have all their mom's/childhood recipes all in one place. I read all the time about people's parents and grandparents passing and they never got such-and-such recipe from them, and they just can't recreate it for all they try. So, I think it would be nice to have it all together in one place for my kids. More recently I have thought that instead of typing out recipes that it would be even more meaningful if I hand wrote each recipe. When my great-grandma passed away I received a bunch of her cookbooks, and notes and I loved the recipes that were written in her own hand writing, they just felt more important to me. I don't mean I would write out 3 copies, write out 1 copy and get it printed 3 times and bound. I don't know though, I'm a bit of a procrastinator.
